You know you’ve got to implement content marketing into your online marketing plan for your business, but how to go about it can be daunting. The Slideshare below from marketing guru Jay Baer, and the team at Convince and Convert, is a comprehensive, yet simple to digest look at how to create a content marketing strategy.
The title is “Create a Content Marketing Strategy in 7 Steps.” However, creating and implementing a workable strategy is not as easy as it sounds. That’s why Baer charges clients a minimum of $25,000 to create social media and content marketing strategies for them.
If you’re a small- to medium-sized business owner, your content marketing strategy does not need to be as comprehensive as outlined in the presentation. But the skeleton on what is suggested is certainly needed.
The top things to consider:
- Who do you want to reach? Or who is your customer?
- What are your overall goals? Brand awareness? Website traffic? Lead generation?
- What are your target audience’s interests? What subject matters would interest them?
- What type of content can you create to reach your target audience, and to achieve your goals?
Once you answer the above questions, you can then create your strategy: Brainstorm with your team for content ideas, schedule posts with an editorial calendar, create and publish your content, and then spread the word via social media, email and other channels.
You’ll get some good ideas on how to get started, or improve your strategy, from Baer’s presentation. If you hire an agency or individual to do your online marketing, the Slideshare will inform you on what a digital marketer does to create a content marketing strategy for your business and implement it.
